My Experience

I have always had a keen interest in dog behaviour and training.  My early working career at the National Canine Defence League (now known as Dog’s Trust) in Snetterton, Norfolk, gave me my first glimpse of a life working with dogs.  It provided me with much information, knowledge and experience in:

  • healthcare
  • advanced dog training
  • first aid
  • new and alternative training techniques
  • canine development
  • puppy and pack socialisation
  • nutrition
  • and so much more

I work with all types of dogs and puppies, some requiring rehabilitation and much training, others just a bit of love and care before going to a new home. I have significant experience with German Shepherd types, collies and collie type crosses, and gundogs of all breeds, with my own dogs being setters. I specialise in dogs with severe reactivity issues, nervous dogs and those who struggle with social or public settings, along with those who have been rehomed into new circumstances and require help to settle into a new life.

I have attended numerous courses and seminars by the likes of John Rogerson & Roger Mugford and other well known dog trainers, some through the NCDL and some at other rescue establishments such as the RSPCA and Blue Cross.

Since ending my employment with the NCDL, I have continued to train my own dogs and those of other friends, family and acquaintances, starting with basic skills and moving right through to agility competitions. More recently I have started to learn to train search and rescue with my own dog, which has been a fantastic new experience. It is always great to keep adding to the skill set!

I try to keep my training methods easy to learn, use and understand, for both dog and owner.  If things become too complicated, it does not lend itself to being “fun”.   My aim is for you to feel enthused, invigorated and desperate to practise your new skills once I finish my session.

I work predominantly in south Norfolk and North Suffolk, but I am very happy to travel and can book appointments within any reasonable travelling distance as required.
